My graduate research is focused on making protein sequencing and fragmentation a more efficient and rapid process. A new ion-ion reaction, electron transfer dissociation (ETD), can be utilized to overcome limitations of conventional protein mass spectrometry. I will work on a novel strategy to control all ion-ion reactions, aiming to develop a new technique to spatially segregate ion/ion products from the reaction chamber. I am also involved in a collaborative project studying stem cell differentiation (in collaboration with J. Thomson).
