My postdoctoral research is focused on development of novel protein/peptide identification and quantification technology based on gas-phase reactions and mass spectrometry. We propose a radical based fragmentation method to achieve several advantages compared to existing technologies: higher sensitivity to detect low abundance peptides/proteins; greater protein sequence coverage; simpler spectra leading to higher confidence in peptide ID assignment, and simpler instrumentation. Quantification will be achieved using new labeling chemistries with stable isotopes.
